Our Story
AutoKontrol is one of the world’s leading specialists in vehicle speed limiter technology. Founded in 1985, we have been at the forefront of speed limiting engineering for more than four decades, developing innovative solutions that keep drivers safe, reduce fuel costs, and ensure regulatory compliance around the world.
Our headquarters and manufacturing facility are in Chorley, Lancashire, where every AutoKontrol product is designed, engineered, and assembled in the UK. From our British base, we serve fleet operators, vehicle manufacturers, and transport companies across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and beyond.
We were pioneers in developing the Drive-By-Wire (DBW) speed limiter — a technology that has become the industry standard for electronic speed limiting. Our System 80 speed limiter unit remains one of the most widely deployed speed control devices in the commercial vehicle sector worldwide.
