GeoKontrol 2 — GPS Geofenced Speed Control
IoT GPS geofenced speed control. Vehicles automatically adjust speed in 20mph zones, construction sites, or custom geofenced areas — no driver input needed.
Key Features
Automatic Zone Detection
Vehicles automatically slow down when entering 20mph zones, school zones, construction sites, or depots — zero driver input required.
Custom Geofence Zones
Fleet managers define unlimited geofenced areas with custom speed limits via web portal. Changes pushed over-the-air instantly to all vehicles.
Standalone IoT Device
No telematics system required. GeoKontrol 2 is a self-contained IoT device with built-in cellular connectivity. Plug in and it works.
Variable Speed Compliance
Unlike fixed speed limiters, GeoKontrol 2 adjusts limits dynamically based on GPS location and zone rules. Different speeds for different areas.
GeoKontrol 2 is AutoKontrol’s IoT-enabled GPS geofenced speed control system — a fundamentally different approach to vehicle speed management. Instead of setting a single fixed speed limit, GeoKontrol 2 automatically adjusts the vehicle’s maximum speed based on its GPS location. Enter a 20mph zone and the vehicle slows down. Leave the zone and normal speed resumes. No driver input required.
How GeoKontrol 2 Works
GeoKontrol 2 is a standalone IoT device installed in the vehicle. It combines a GPS receiver with a speed limiter interface and cellular connectivity. The device continuously monitors the vehicle’s position and compares it against a database of geofenced zones — each with its own speed limit.
When the vehicle enters a geofenced zone, GeoKontrol 2 automatically reduces the maximum permitted speed to the zone’s limit. When the vehicle exits the zone, the speed limit returns to the default setting. The entire process is automatic and invisible to the driver — there is nothing to press, no mode to select, and no way to override the zone-based limit.
The Zone Database
Fleet managers define geofenced zones through a web portal. Each zone has:
- Geographic boundary — drawn on a map as a polygon or circle
- Speed limit — the maximum permitted speed within the zone (e.g., 20 mph, 15 mph, 5 mph)
- Schedule — zones can be active 24/7 or during specific hours (e.g., school zones active 8am–4pm)
- Vehicle groups — different limits for different vehicle classes within the same zone
Changes to zones are pushed over-the-air via cellular connection to all vehicles instantly. There is no need to physically access each vehicle to update zone configurations.
Use Cases
Urban 20mph Zones
Local authorities across the UK are implementing 20mph speed limits in residential areas. GeoKontrol 2 ensures fleet vehicles automatically comply with these variable speed zones — even when the driver is unfamiliar with the area or distracted.
Construction Sites
Construction sites have strict speed limits (typically 5–15 mph) that change as the site develops. GeoKontrol 2 allows site managers to define and update speed zones in real time as the site layout evolves, without waiting for physical speed bumps or signage.
School Zones
Speed compliance near schools is critical. GeoKontrol 2 can enforce reduced speeds during school hours and relax the limit outside those hours — automatically, based on the schedule programmed in the zone database.
Depots, Warehouses, and Yards
Vehicle speed in depot areas is a common source of accidents and near-misses. GeoKontrol 2 can enforce 5 mph limits within the depot boundary, then allow normal road speeds once the vehicle exits the gate.
Residential Delivery Routes
Last-mile delivery fleets operating in residential areas can use GeoKontrol 2 to automatically reduce vehicle speeds when entering residential zones, improving safety and reducing noise complaints.

GeoKontrol 2 vs Fixed Speed Limiters
| Feature | GeoKontrol 2 | Fixed Speed Limiter (DBW/System 80) |
|---|---|---|
| Speed limit | Variable — changes by location | Fixed — one speed for all locations |
| Zone awareness | Yes — GPS-based automatic adjustment | No — same limit everywhere |
| Remote management | Yes — web portal, OTA updates | No — requires physical access |
| Best for | Urban delivery, construction, schools, depots | Highway compliance, EU R89 mandatory fitting |
| Telematics required | No — standalone IoT device | No |
GeoKontrol 2 is not a replacement for mandatory fixed speed limiters (which are required by EU law on vehicles over 3.5 tonnes). It is a complementary system for situations where variable, location-based speed control adds safety value beyond the fixed limit.
For fleets that need both fixed speed limiting and GPS tracking, see TrackSpeed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does GeoKontrol 2 require a telematics system?
No. GeoKontrol 2 is a fully standalone IoT device with its own GPS receiver and 4G cellular connection. It does not depend on any third-party telematics platform.
Can drivers override the speed limit in a zone?
No. When the vehicle is inside a geofenced zone, the speed limit is enforced automatically and cannot be overridden by the driver. This is the core safety feature of the system.
What happens if the GPS signal is lost?
If GPS signal is temporarily lost (e.g., in a tunnel), GeoKontrol 2 holds the last known zone’s speed limit until GPS is reacquired. The device does not revert to unrestricted speed during GPS outages.
How many zones can I create?
Unlimited. There is no cap on the number of geofenced zones per fleet. Zones can overlap (the most restrictive limit applies) and can be grouped by vehicle type.
What’s the monthly cost?
